CAR ACCIDENT!

well if i had known what was going to happen today i never would have gotten out of bed this morning! I was on my way to Mias house so that we could work on our dissertation. The roads where clear, no snow, but it was very cold. As always during the winter time I kept the speed limit and sometimes even below it bc of it possibly being icy on the roads. I was about 15 min from Mias house when it happened. A semi had been following behind me really close for about 10 min, and it was making me feel really stressed. I had tried to get him to pass me by slowing down but he wouldnt do it. So when we stopped at the red light, and it turned two laned after it, I decided to pass the car in front of me so that they would have the semi behind them instead. As I accelerated from the right lane inte to the left the car hit ice and started swirwing back n forth in my lane. I knew I had a car on the right of me so I tried to stear as best I could but it was useless. I remember trying to turn into the metal divider on my left, so that I wouldnt hit the car on my right- hurting me, but not them...but I couldnt control it. the car did a 90 turn to the right and I hit the car next to me. That car was pushed in front of my car, across the left lane i had been in and into the divider. My car kept spinning and went fron the left lane i was in, to the right across that lane and into the ditch. the other car bounced off the railing and ended up behind me on the same side, both of us facing towards oncoming traffic. Luckily for us both there was a wall of snow and ice on the side of the road before the ditch(after all the plowing) which stopped both cars. I remember thinking that none of us were gonna make it when I hit the car, with all the traffic behind us and the semi behind me...but angels were watching over us and all of us walked away with scratches. Luckily my dad works only 5 min from where it happend and he came and helped me which was exactly what I needed.
So as u can imagine it has been a horrible day. I remember thinking(and maybe i said it aloud), when the car was spinning, for the people in the other car to be ok even if I got hurt...I guess someone was listening and decided it wasent time for any of us to go...anyways...

FUN WEEK!

Hey guys,
First I want to CONGRATULATE two of my friends. Megan- I'm sooooooo happy for you and Jeff- Congratulations to your engagement!! Jonathan- I knew you would be on your feet again and I'm so proud of you!!!
This week has been a wonderful week for me. My internship in the ICU is awesome! I have gotten to see and do a lot of different things which is great experience for me. I have cared for many different patients from post-op patients, heart attacks, angina,etc. A lot of people probably think that it is hard to be in the ICU bc people are usually very sick when they are there. But for me, it dosent feel like that. Everyday when I help someone, even with the smallest things, it makes my whole day to see them get better or when I get a simple "thank you". I wish all of you could experience that- helping people is the most rewarding thing in the world!
As for the rest of my life, it's kind of on hold right now. I have found time to work out 3 times this week, before or after being at the hospital, but I havent had time for anything fun! Hopefully I will get to relax and see some of my friends this weekend, although I will be in the ICU during the day sat.

FREEZING!!!!

hey guys,
so I havent really done anything fun this weekend. Friday nite I was home watching a movie. Last nite I had some nice dinner and watched tv, and today I had dinner at my parents house!! It is sooooooooo cold though, 10 F which is like -12 C!!! It hurts just to go outside! Anyway, tomorrow I start my internship so Im not sure how much I will be able to write. When I work during the day (645am-330pm) I will try to write, but when I work nights (2pm-1030pm) I probably wont write at all!! Keep sending me emails though bc I can check that anywhere.

SOOOOOOOO MUCH SNOW!!

hey guys,
well the snow has been gone for about a week, but yesterday it came back- with a vengance!! It has been snowing since yesterday around noon and still hasent stopped! In that time we have gotten almost a foot of snow and the roads are super slick!! As soon as the snow lands on the ground or wherever it freezes. There was ice on my car windows almost 1" thick which took forever to scrape off! There have been tons of accidents so I'm trying not to drive anywhere if I dont absolutely have too! The only positive thing is that I love snow and it's very bright and pretty outside.
Tonite im not doing anything special. I spent all day yesterday and most of the day studying with Mia. we are almost done and I'm really happy with how it has turned out!The rest of my weekend will be spent taking it easy since I start my internship on monday

Hope everyone is doing well. This week I have been to school, monday and tuesday. They gave us this project to do before we start our internships on monday, so i've been pretty busy! Today I got the chance to do something else so I went to the gym in the morning and then had lunch with a frien.Then I spent the afternoon studying- again. Tonite I am just gonna relax- maybe go see mom and dad!

UPDATE

Hey guys,
Sorry I haven't updated the blog in a week- I promise to write more often. This week has been a long week. We are finishing up our dessortation which has taken a lot of my time and effort. Friday nite I just stayed home and watched a movie. Last nite we played Texas Hold 'em with some of our friends and drank some wine. We were home at about 3 am, so today I've been really tired. Just came back from having sunday dinner at mom and dads. Since Johnny moved out we have made it a weekly family dinner, which is really nice. Its something that I look forward too all week, especially if I havent gotten to see them all week.Tomorrow we go back to school again and then next week we start our internship. I will be at the hospital in the ICU, which I'm really looking forward too! Other then that nothing new. I will keep writing as often as I can when I start interning, but unfortunately it probably wont be everyday! Keep posting comments though bc I love hearing from all of you!

SNOWING

Hey guys,
hope everyone is doing well. I wanna congratulate Angela and John on their new baby boy, Joshua. Mom and son are now both home frome the hospital and doing great!
As for me, nothing new except that there's tons of snow here and now it is snowing again!! It's really pretty though and it makes the dark winter days a lot brighter!
This week has been a short week for everyone bc yesterday was a holiday. Since everyone was off we went out on Thursday which was a lot of fun. My friend, Mattias came to visit me and came out with us! When we came home from the club around 3 am, we had a huge snowball fight- guys against girls, which was totally unfair bc there were 3 guys against us 2 girls!! But we managed to get the guys pretty good and we were all soaked by the time we went back inside!
anyways, today I am meeting mom and dad for some shopping and coffee which I'm looking forward too. I dont get to see them as often as I'd like now that I am so busy with school. Usually I see them a couple times a week but lately it's barely been once a week..

Hey everyone!
I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and recieved lots of nice gifts- I certainly did! New years was great, but also kind of sad that another year has just gone by in a flash! Seems like only yesterday we were all excited about the Millenium...
anyway, in two weeks I start school again which is actually gonna be nice. We are almost done with our distortation(?) and it will be nice to get back into a rutin. I will only be in school for 2 weeks though and then I will be doing different internships at the hospital until I am done in May!
